Inspired by the spring night time scene of cherry blossom petals blowing in the wind coming to rest on the river’s surface, this petite Grand Seiko Cherry Blossom ‘Hana-Ikada’ is a compact recreation of the highly popular SBGA413.

‘The Nature of Time’ theme features prominently in Grand Seiko watch designs – a Japanese spirituality in which each moment is a unique expression unveiled through light and shadow. The watchmakers’ pride in their surroundings is represented from engineering watch movements to creating dials reflecting the beauty of Japanese nature.

This timepiece is crafted in a 32mm 62GS case design – the smallest ever in a Grand Seiko watch. Just 8.8mm slim, the design builds on the heritage of the 62GS – the first Grand Seiko with automatic winding – launched in 1967 and popular ever since, with its distinct aesthetic and recognisable case shape. In Stainless Steel, this model has a mirrored and multi-sided case with a wide dial opening, achieved with a bezel-free construction and unique Grand Seiko Zaratsu polishing.

Powered by the in-house crafted 9F51 Quartz calibre, the movement is accurate to +/-10 seconds per year despite its small diameter, retaining the high performance of the “Twin Pulse Control System” and “Backlash Auto-Adjust Mechanism.” The quartz in every 9F calibre is grown in-house and rigorously tested for three months – only the best-performing crystals are crafted into a Grand Seiko movement.
