The Spring Drive GMT calibre 9R66 has long been a Grand Seiko favourite, now presented in a bold design exclusive to Grand Seiko Boutiques.

Equipped with a GMT hand this timepiece achieves unparalleled functionality as the rotating 24-hour bezel simultaneously displaying three different time zones. It features Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive calibre, uniquely pioneered by Seiko Watch Corporation’s watchmakers. Spring Drive generates energy like a conventional mechanical watch with a mainspring but combines this with an electronic regulator to deliver superior precision, never requiring a battery change.

In Spring Drive, the second-hand moves in perfect glide motion, reflecting the natural and continuous flow of time itself. It has a 72-hour power reserve, and a power reserve indicator on the bottom left of the dial. The GMT hand can be adjusted to local time without stopping the movement so that the watch’s accuracy is maintained even when the time zone is changed.

Above the 44 mm case sits a rotating bezel over which the sapphire crystal extends, giving the watch extra protection and a quietly powerful depth. The dual curved sapphire has an anti-reflection coating both inside and out to deliver enhanced legibility. The case and bracelet are in stainless steel and the watch is 20 bar water resistant.
