This timepiece is from the Japanese Seasons collection – designs inspired by the twenty four ‘Sekki’ or seasons in Japan; since ancient times these changes in the weather and nature have been incorporated into Japanese daily life. The dial of this timepiece is inspired by Japan’s Autumn sky – when crisp, silent moonlight follows a clear sunny day.

This seasonal phase is known as Kanro. The evenings draw in and the first frosts appear. There is chill in the morning air. The Spring Drive glide motion second hand moves smoothly, silently and mysteriously, like the moon across the calm night sky. Autumn is at its height.

‘The Nature of Time’ theme features prominently in Grand Seiko watch designs – a Japanese spirituality where each moment is a unique expression unveiled through light and shadow. Spring Drive generates energy like a conventional mechanical watch with a mainspring but combines this with an electronic regulator to deliver superior precision, never requiring a battery change. Spring Drive is only available in Seiko Watch Corporation timepieces.
