This timepiece is inspired by the twenty four ‘Sekki’ or seasons in Japan; since ancient times these changes in the weather and nature have been incorporated into Japanese daily life.

‘The Nature of Time’ theme features prominently in Grand Seiko watch designs – a Japanese spirituality in which each moment is a unique expression unveiled through light and shadow. The watchmakers’ pride in their surroundings is represented from engineering watch movements to creating dials reflecting the beauty of Japanese nature.

This new Grand Seiko is inspired by the season ‘Seimei,’ meaning ‘clear and bright,’ during early April when flowers bloom and new leaves begin to grow. Named ‘Sakura-Wakaba’ – ‘Sakura’ meaning ‘cherry blossom’ and ‘Wakaba’ meaning ‘young leaf,’ the warm spring breeze, bright sunshine, cherry blossoms and young leaves set the scene for the light green-gold dial.

The design builds on the heritage of the 62GS – Grand Seiko’s first automatic winding watch – launched in 1967. Over the past 45 years, the 62GS case design has grown in popularity thanks to its distinct and striking aesthetic.

Crafted in 18ct yellow gold, this model has a bezel-free construction allowing for greater clarity and legibility, paired with unique Grand Seiko Zaratsu polishing. Together, these elements combine in a 38mm case to make this 62GS redux a clean, slim, easy-to-read and comfortable watch.

A glass exhibition case back showcases the in-house built 9S85 hi-beat movement with 36,000 vibrations per hour, accurate to +5/-3 seconds per day with a 55-hour power reserve.
