Description
With just 60 pieces available worldwide, this limited edition Grand Seiko self-winding mechanical watch features an 18 carat gold case and twelve diamonds on its textured dial.
Designed to commemorate 140 years since the beginnings of Seiko Watch Corporation, the STGK016 establishes the “Classic Series” as a new design foundation for Grand Seiko women’s models, inspired by the overall case and crystal shape of the very first Grand Seiko timepiece from 1960.
This watch is powered by the 9S27 calibre – the woman behind its development was Sayaka Yamada who aimed to achieve Grand Seiko’s standard for high precision in a significantly smaller calibre. Often with a smaller and thinner movement accuracy is harder to stabilise as the balance wheel needs to shrink to fit within the smaller architecture, and a smaller balance wheel is often not as resilient against external forces.
The automatic calibre 9S27 strikes that difficult and delicate balance between high performance and slimness that only a long established “manufacture” can achieve with a precision rate of +8 to -3 seconds a day and a power reserve of 50 hours. These high levels of performance are delivered by a movement that is just 19.4mm in diameter and 4.49mm in height, creating an elegantly slim profile.
